Mat Pilates

Mat Pilates is based on the original exercises created by Joseph Pilates before the equipment was created. Contrology is the coordination of mind and body that focuses on six principles; breath, concentration, control, center, flow and precision. The main objective of Mat Pilates is core strength and overall body awareness. Classes help to lengthen and tone the body and over time, your posture, stability and flexibility will improve. Low bearing weights, the magic circle and other props are used to enhance the workout.

 

Mat Pilates is also known to help with Osteoporosis and menopausal symptoms, keeping more of the focus on thoughtful and controlled movements with each exercise. The exercises also help with proper breathing and stretching to combat stress during menopause.

Mat/Chair Combo 

Combining Mat exercises with neutral exercises on the Pilates chair provides a more challenge to the core. Chair exercises require the co-contraction of the muscles of the powerhouse and enhance stability through spring-loaded resistance.

Dance+ Pilates

We are seeing more and more the health benefits of dance movement. Dance sequences to a variety of fun music is an excellent complement to the Pilates workout. Bring a friend or two and let's Dance+ Pilates! This is a fun way to get the 20 minutes of cardio we need, followed by a Pilates workout.
